March 2025 marks two years since the death of director Lakis Papastathis, a major figure of New Greek Cinema, executive producer and director of the TV show Paraskinio, writer, intellectual and active artist and citizen for roughly 60 years. Benaki Museum Publications present the tribute volume edited by director Katerina Evangelakou, LAKIS PAPASTATHIS. Wide Shot and accompanying the exhibition LAKIS PAPASTATHIS. Searching for the Lost Image. The book comprises texts by fifty exponents of letters and the arts: filmmakers, theater and television professionals, writers, painters, journalists, musicians, students and friends of
the director, all give their testimony. The publication seeks to capture the multifaceted life and powerful mark left by an artist and intellectual who was active in fiction cinema, documentary, television, advertising, prose, criticism, and who also engaged in painting and collecting old magazines and photographs in his capacity as a collector/scholar. The event will also be attended by actor Yvonne Maltezou. The presentation will be followed by a screening of the documentary From the Bus Terminal to the Art Theater, directed by Lakis Papastathis for the ERT series YSTEROGRAFO [Postscript] (2022).
