Five emblematic PPC thermal power stations are “brought to life” through music and visuals, within the framework of the online festival Waves of Light, organized by the Greek National Opera in collaboration with the PPC and curated by Giorgos Koumendakis. Five art groups create site-specific video performances with music and script that draw inspiration from the spaces, history, and people who worked there. The first video, L’éclairage revient [The Lighting Returns], was filmed at the Aliveri Thermal Power Station. Its creators were inspired by writing pads with handwritten notes found at the factory, and crafted a soundscape in which Arthur Rimbaud’s poetry engages in dialogue with the thoughts of the people who worked in Aliveri. After the screening, which will take place in collaboration with PPC, a live performance by Michalis and Pantelis Kalogerakis will follow, featuring selections from their discography (albums: Prosopiko, Rebotika, Varvara Project, Melpomeni’s Tales, etc.).
