THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12

16:00 – 18:30

Pavlos Zannas Theater

Admission is free, on the issue of a zero-value ticket.

Eve (1953) by Maria Plyta, Greece’s first female director, is the first restored Greek film ever screened at Cannes Classics, in 2026. The restoration began as an academic recovery project linked to the three-year research project “Plyta’s Unknown Cinema” (PUC, 2025–2028), directed by Aristotle University film professor Betty Kaklamanidou. The screening is followed by a discussion on the restoration process, moderated by Professor Kaklamanidou, with representatives of Cannes Classics (Gérald Duchaussoy), Cineteca di Bologna (Cecilia Cenciarelli) and the L’Immagine Ritrovata laboratory (Elena Tammaccaro).

Restored by The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project and Cineteca di Bologna at L’Immagine Ritrovata, in association with Alatas Films and Betty-Despoina Kaklamanidou and in cooperation with the Greek Film Archive. Funding provided by the Hobson/Lucas Family Foundation.

The discussion will be conducted in Greek and English with simultaneous interpretation into both languages.
