5th EVIA FILM PROJECT
23 JUNE → 27 JUNE 2026

The Evia Film Project, the Thessaloniki International Film Festival’s green initiative, is back for the fifth consecutive year, this time focusing on the fascinating, unseen world of the forest.
A sanctuary, a place of mystery and timeless legends, a source of life, an ideal setting both for realist stories and for multilayered allegories, the forest has accompanied cinema since the latter’s inception, inspiring countless cinematic creations.
With sustainability and the relationship between humans and nature as its central themes, the program of the 5th Evia Film Project approaches the forest as a complex ecosystem of interdependence, as well as a space for wandering and an arena of transformation. Through screenings, masterclasses, and activities, the Evia Film Project, implemented with the support of the Ministry of Culture, invites us to surrender to the invisible forces of the forest and reconnect with a universe that is allpowerful yet fragile, primordial yet constantly changing. At the same time, it urges us to redefine our coexistence with nature, at a time when ensuring its protection seems more urgent than ever.
As in its previous editions, renowned film professionals, producers, directors, actors, technicians, journalists, and other distinguished guests from all over the world, will give masterclasses and workshops, present films, and discover the beauty of the landscape. At the same time, they will be informed on emerging best practices on sustainable cinema in all its possible facets.
The Evia Film Project is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Culture. The MEDIA program, the Ministry of Tourism, and ERT are key contributors. Grand Sponsor COSMOTE TV, and Fischer, which has consistently supported the Festival, have provided invaluable support. The 5th Evia Film Project is organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Istiaia-Edipsos, the Municipality of Mantoudi-Limni-Agia Anna, and the Evia Island Port Authority.
