Welcome to Nextus, the European educational documentary platform!

Richer than ever, the educational platform “Nextus” offers students a multifaceted view of current affairs through a curated selection of documentary films. Topics such as Civic Education, sustainability, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and youth entrepreneurship unfold through a distinctly cinematic lens, opening up new ways of seeing and understanding the world around them.

The platform brings together 70 documentary titles from across world cinema, presented either in full or in selected excerpts, all closely connected to both the school curriculum and contemporary social issues. The films are available with Greek subtitles and are intended for students aged 12 to 18, supporting the cross-border circulation of European audiovisual works.

This year, the platform is further enriched with new documentary titles from around the world, along with a wide range of educational resources, bringing film education directly into the classroom and making teaching more vivid, engaging and imaginative!

The programme is implemented within the framework of the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme - MEDIA Sub-programme: Support to Film Education, by the interdisciplinary team of the Thessaloniki Film Festival, in collaboration with the educational teams of the documentary festivals DocsBarcelona, DOK.fest München, IndieLisboa, Sottodiciotto Film Festival and MakeDox Film Festival.
