Park your Cinema: Musicals under the stars
22.05.2026
NEWS
The Thessaloniki International Film Festival is selecting for another year films for the successful series of open-air film screenings “Park your Cinema”, inviting us to take delight in music vibes under the stars and dance to the rhythm of many beloved musicals.
The series of open-air screenings “Park your Cinema” and “Park your Cinema Kids” are back in action this year, at the Stavros Niarchos Park for the eleventh consecutive year, as always, with a free admission for the public!
It is the longest-running series of events held by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, which has managed to draw a loyal audience of all ages in its 11-year course. Year after year, its faithful attendees gather up at the Stavros Niarchos Park to enjoy film screenings while lying under the stars, taking advantage of a unique summer experience.
This year, the adult audience will be given the chance to watch popular musicals curated by the Thessaloniki International Film Festival. Under the open skies, cinema turns into a collective experience, as moving images, music and emotions are wrapped into a single breath. This year, musicals go way beyond an event’s choice of theme; they represent a stance. A film language that does not fear exaggeration, transforming emotions into rhythm and melody. It is not a nostalgic journey back in time, but a reminder that singing in cinema has always been an act of freedom. From Singin’ in the Rain all the way to Fame and Mamma Mia!, one thing is for sure: when words seem to fail us, music takes over to save the day.
Moreover, films on friendship and family will be screened as part of the kids’ programme, selected by the Athens International Kids’ Film Festival. The season kicks off with two beloved films, the iconic musical Fame on 29/05 and the live-action version of Lilo & Stitch on 30/05.
