Seriously Now? The Liminal Art of Comedy

Born and raised in Athens since 1994, he studied Political Science at Panteion University and​ for almost nine years, he was a film critic for Athinorama. When he is not watching Panathinaikos and Liverpool matches in rotation, he ​writes for the sports zine Humba and teaches film seminars in the afternoons (Cinemarian, Fårö).​ During the summer, he curates the film program for the Zagoriwood Festival and occasionally collaborates with institutions such as the Thessaloniki International Film Festival and the Drama International Short Film Festival. He is a member of the Hellenic Film Academy and the Greek Film Critics Association​. ​His day starts in a movie theater and ends somewhere over a Guinness.

Seriously Now? The Liminal Art of Comedy

Ira Katsouda is a stand-up comedian with regular performances in Athens, across Greece, and in Europe. In 2017 she presented her first solo show, Gluten Free, followed in 2019 by She Is Good, for a Woman, and in October 2022 she released her third monologue, MINIMAL. She is currently presenting her new show, Beautiful Thoughts. She co-presented the TV show To Diktio (ERT). She also hosted the documentary series 45 Masters, 60 Apprentices (ERT2). She appears as an actress in the improvisational ERT series Off Script. She is a member of the writing team for the weekly comedy show ANASKOPISI by The Press Project. She is the creator of the podcast Brait Said, as well as MINIMAL – The Podcast Game Show. She studied Economics, Classical Music, and Theatre.

THANOS TOKAKIS

Thanos Tokakis was born in 1980 in Athens. He is an actor, director and drama teacher. He is the screenwriter of the awarded short film Cowboy (2017). His debut as a director is the short film tokakis or What’s My Name (2022) in which he is also the screenwriter and leading actor. The film was awarded in Drama Short Film Festival, Athens International Film Festival and was nominated at the Hellenic Film Academy Awards. His next short film The Rooster’s Gospel is currently in post-production. He received the Best Theater Performance by a Young Actor Award (2011), the Best Supporting Actor Award by the Hellenic Film Academy (2020) and was nominated for the Best Leading Actor Award by the Hellenic Film Academy (2024).
