The 5th Evia Film Project, the green initiative of the Thessaloniki Film Festival, funded by the Ministry of Culture, kept beating to the same frenzy drum right before calling it a wrap, on Saturday June 27th, featuring an open discussion on the account of the international co-production of Yerma that recently concluded its shooting in Edipsos, as well as the masterclass delivered by the Festival’s Artistic Director Orestis Andreadakis on the connection between Greek folk songs and the splatter film genre. Moreover, on Saturday afternoon a Memorandum of Collaboration was signed between the Thessaloniki Film Festival and the Hellenic Film & Audiovisual Center (EKKOMED).
Open Discussion An International Co-Production: How Yerma Met Greece
The event titled “An International Co-Production: How Yerma Met Greece”, held at the Cultural Center “Melina Merkouri”, in Edipsos, featured a panel of speakers composed by producer Amanda Livanou (Neda Film), producer Katerina Tzourou (Neda Film), line producer Anna Zografou and the Mayor of Istiea-Edipsos Ioannis Kontzias. The event was moderated by Nektarios Sakkas, Coordinator of the EFP5 Open Discussions, who briefly presented the speakers to the audience. The talk focused on how a fam trip to Northern Evia, carried out during the 3rd Evia Film Project, led to a large-scale Greek-Spanish co-production.

Masterclass The Legend of Arta’s Bridge, Hannibal Lecter, and a Cabin in the Woods
In the framework of the masterclass titled “The Legend of Arta’s Bridge, Hannibal Lecter, and a Cabin in the Woods”, the Festival’s Artistic Director Orestis Andreadakis delved into the profound ties between Greek folk songs and the splatter film genre.

Signing of Memorandum of Collaboration between the Festival and EKKOMED
On Friday June 26th, a Memorandum of Collaboration was signed between the Thessaloniki Film Festival and the Hellenic Film & Audiovisual Center (EKKOMED), aiming at the optimal collaboration between the two institutions, having as ultimate goal the development, extroversion and international promotion of the Greek film and audiovisual creation. The MoC was signed by the Festival’s General Director Elise Jalladeau and EKKOMED’s CEO Leonidas Christopoulos.

The Evia Film Project is carried out with the support of the Ministry of Culture. Highly important is the contribution of COSMOTE TELEKOM, the Festival’s Grand Sponsor, and Fischer, a consistent supporter of the Festival. The 5th Evia Film Project is held in collaboration with the Municipalities of Istiea-Edipsos and Mantoudi-Limni-Agia Anna and the Evia Island Ports Authority.
