Greece 2014 27 DigiBeta Color-B&W
Film description
In 1943, the Nazis came to the village of Kali Sykia, 30 kilometers away from the city of Rethymnos, seeking men who were to be executed. They did not find them because the men had abandoned the village. In reprisal, they set fire to the entire village. As the houses were burning, the Nazis took the women and the eldelry and threw them into the fire. Among them was a pregnant woman and a 86-year-old man. The documentary includes eye-witness accounts of relatives of the victims and villagers who experienced these barbaric events. One woman says: “The village still echoes with the screams of the women who were being burned alive!”
