NEWSThree exciting new releases take centre stage this week at the Festival’s theatres, each moving across a different cinematic genre, joined by the next Fundamentals of Cinema: New Classics screening, featuring a landmark work of European cinema from the 00s, as well as the much-loved Kids Love Cinema slot for our youngest cinephiles. A film week for every taste, unfolding on the big screen.
Here’s what’s on this week:
The psychological drama-thriller Mother Mary by David Lowery, where contemporary pop mythology meets gothic melodrama in a story of two women bound both artistically and personally, across time and distance.

The family drama Beginnings by Jeanette Nordahl, unfolding a tender story about the courage to begin again at the most unexpected moment, in another defining role for Trine Dyrholm.

The dark comedyA Useful Ghostby first-time Thai director Ratchapoom Boonbunchachoke, a surreal allegory exploring the complex paths of grief and the search for meaning through the acceptance of loss. Winner of the Grand Prize at the 78th Cannes Film Festival Critics’ Week.

Talk to Her, the unforgettable film by Pedro Almodóvar, returns to the screen in the next Fundamentals of Cinema: New Classics screening. A defining work of European cinema in the 00s and a turning point in the director’s filmography, it finds its place once again where it truly belongs, on the big screen, in the darkened theatre (Wednesday 22/04).

This Sunday’sKids Love Cinema brings a fun space adventure with a lovable lead, as Elio takes over the big screen for our youngest cinephiles (Sunday 19/04).
