In a 2012 interview with Τhe Guardian, avant garde godfather Jonas Mekas, who inspired Andy Warhol to shoot his own films, described himself as an “anthropologist of the small meaningful moment.” In this thrilling film diary, he chronicles the early years of his friendship with the pioneer of pop art and his social milieu – and manages to record on camera the first public performance of the Velvet Underground in 1966!
