Rescued in Time: Rescue in the Renaissance

The Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, in collaboration with COSMOTE TV, presents a special screening of the documentary Rescued in Time: Rescue in the Renaissance. After the Fall of Constantinople, the rescue of Ancient Greek texts continued in the rich cities of the Italian North Venice, Florence, and Rome. But why specifically there? And what role did the revolutionary invention of typography play in the texts’ triumphant passage to immortality? Archaeologist Thodoris Papakostas explains.
