The film chronicles the dire reality of migrant domestic workers in Middle Eastern countries – from the legal framework that creates a structure of power and control, conducive to corruption and abuse, to the private sphere of the house that serves to reproduce a patriarchal system that discriminates against women and undermines the rights of people making a living in the household. Exposing modern forms of slavery, the film is a powerful reflection on the role of women and domestic work in capitalist societies.
