Costas Sfikas

He was born in Athens in 1927. A postal employee from his adolescence, he embarked on the journey of the selftaught filmmaker in 1961 with his short Inauguration. It was followed by the documentaries Wait and Dawn in Thera, which he made in collaboration with the late Stavros Tornes. His aversion for representational film and the vision of a dialectical materialistic cinema led him to the creation of films such as: Model (Award for Best Artistic Film at the 1974 Thessaloniki FF), Metropolises, Allegory, Paul Klee’s Prophetic Bird of Sorrows, Prometheus Enantiodromon, etc.
