As the refugee crisis hit its peak in 2015 and 2016, more than a million displaced people arrived to Europe after making the journey across the sea. Of that total, at least 800,000 had crossed the Aegean Sea from Turkey to Greece. This documentary follows their torturous trek, often through illegal routes, as the refugees and migrants filmed their perils on their own mobile phones, which they used for both documentation and navigation. Based on exclusive and original footage rarely available in the media, the film includes shocking images of the insurmountable difficulties these people faced along the way.
