Open Mics

In the midst of an enormous economic crisis, hip hop is the only thriving music genre in Greece. An increasingly large number of young and highly talented MCs are emerging and expressing contemporary political and social issues through powerful verses which criticize the societies and the world we all share. The influence of hip hop in Greek society can be seen in the attitude and views of many prominent artists, writers, musicians, academics and journalists, who analyze this social phenomenon. They comment on the wit, self-irony and talent of young rappers and examine hip hop’s popularity with the younger generation.
