The Story of Technoviking

The Story of Technoviking

  #media   #society

It all started when experimental artist Matthias Fritsch shot a 4-minute video at the 2000 Fuckparade (a Berlin annual techno parade) featuring an unaware bare-chested man colloquially known as “Techno Viking”. Seven years later, the video was uploaded on YouTube, went insanely viral, inspired the Internet community to create a spin-off art figure, spurred thousands of memes, and eventually led its producer into court faced against charges of personality rights infringement. Displaying more than 20 interviews with lawyers, artists, academics, and fans, this intrusive documentary delves into a brave new world of undefined ethical limits and unexplored cultural phenomena.
