Mao Tse Tung

The film unfolds the reality in a communist country in the 1970s through the eyes and wise ways of an ordinary gypsy.The events take place in a small city in Albania. Besides the well-organized civilized life, a strange gypsy community is settled in the city.The calm flow of their life is troubled by the birth of a child. The son, who is the ninth child of this gypsy family, will bring joy not only to his family, but to the entire gypsy community.What could possibly trouble the strong communist establishment of the time? A child is born but not an ordinary one. His name is Mao Tse Tung. A gypsy Mao Tse Tung in the 1970s.

Besnik Bisha

He was born in Tirana in 1958. He began his career in 1981 as assistant director in the only national film studio.After completing his studies as a film director in Tirana, he produced and co-produced many feature films and documentaries. He has participated in many international film festivals and was granted various prizes. His film A Mother’s Heart won the Trofeo d’argento in Salerno, Italy in 1993 and the Best Film Award at the Tirana FF and in Luhacevice, Czech Republic. Bolero won awards for Second Best Film, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress at the European FF, Saint-Etienne 1997.
