Upside Down

The story of Jan Ludvik, a circus performer who leaves the circus and goes back to the place from where he was expelled, versus the story of Jan Ludvik as a brilliant child, an exceptional character, a young man who does not obey the principles of collectivism and loses his position in society because of that. A story about the rise and fall. The crowd is a force that draws everyone towards it, towards the average, like gravity. But the circus is a place where gravity does not apply...

Igor Ivanov

He was born in Skopje, FYROM in 1973. He studied Philosophy and was constantly involved in filmmaking processes. He started his professional career in 1993, directing TV series. From 1995 to 2004 he made several short films and documentaries presented at festivals worldwide. His last short, Bubachki, was in competition at the 54th Berlinale and won a Golden Leopard at the Locarno FF. Upside Down is his first feature film.
