Film description
In April 2004, a picture of the tortures going on at Abu Graib prison appeared all over the world: the man with the hood over his head and the electric shock cables attached to his body became the symbol of the hell that is Iraqi prisons. This man’s name is Hadj Ali, and he recently spoke to Stelios Kouloglou about his adventure. His devastating testimony is presented in this special programme on the “American gulag”, an international network of torture and kidnapping established by the US after 9/11 and the invasion of Iraq. The film includes photographs and video material that prove not only that, despite assurances by the US government, prisoners are still being tortured to death in Iraqi prison, but also that chemical substances are being used in the torture methods. Among those interviewed are Brigadeer-general Janis Karpinski, commander of the Abu Graib prison, Aidan Delgado who was a GI serving at Abu Graib, and the sister and lawyer of Private Lindy England, who appears in the infamous photographs dragging prisoners on a leash.
