Isaki Lacuesta debuted in 2002 with Cravan vs Cravan. Afterwards came La leyenda del tiempo (The Legend of Time, 2006), Los condenados (The Condemned, 2009), La noche que no acaba (Zabaltegi Specials, 2010) and the African diptych composed of El cuaderno de barro (The Clay Diaries, 2011) and Los pasos dobles (The Double Steps, Golden Shell at the San Sebastián Festival in 2011). He returned to the Official Selection in San Sebastián with Murieron por encima de sus posibilidades (Dying Beyond Their Means, 2014) and in 2015 filmed La próxima piel (The Next Skin), co-directed with Isa Campo.
