The subversive cinema of Catalan director Albert Serra and the cinematic signature of British filmmaker Joanna Hogg are honored at the tributes of the 60^th Thessaloniki International Film Festival (31/10-10/11/2019).

The audience of the 60^th Thessaloniki International Film Festival (October 31^st until November 10^th 2019) will enjoy a John Waters three-day experience.  The daring director and iconic representative of cult cinema will be in Thessaloniki from the 6^th until the 8^th of November 2019 and it is with great pleasure that TIFF will present him with the Golden Alexander award for his contribution to cinema.

The Overview Effect, an experience that can shake human intellect to its core, is the prism through which the 60^th Thessaloniki International Film Festival (October 31^st until November 10^th 2019) views the 14 films of the International Competition.

TIFF stands alongside Mohammad Rasoulof

Thessaloniki International Film Festival expresses its strong protest for the Iranian Court’s decision to sentence director Mohammad Rasoulof to 1 year in prison and a 2-year ban on leaving Iran and getting involved in any social or political activity and asks for his immediate release.

The unjust sentence of the Iranian filmmaker is a direct attack to the freedom of speech and creation that constitutes a basic human right.

Once a misunderstood decade, the 80s come back at Thessaloniki from October 31^st to November 10^th 2019. The 60^th Thessaloniki International Film Festival asked the Greek director and musician The Boy (Alexandros Voulgaris) to dive into the 80s and pick ten films full of horror, tenderness, humor and music.

We are happy to inform you that the 60^th anniversary Thessaloniki International Film Festival presents a big exhibition dedicated to the artistic work of Greek director Nikos Koundouros. The opening will take place during the 60^th Thessaloniki International Film Festival (October 31^st until November 10^th 2019) in a space specifically modified for the exhibition in the Pier A of the Port of Thessaloniki.

The most enthralling, entertaining and spectacular film by Alfred Hitchcock, North by Northwest, a sensational chase from New York to Mount Rashmore is the film of the summer open air screening of Thessaloniki International Film Festival. The screening of the adventurous film of the brilliant director –with Cary Grant in the lead role, giving one of his best on-screen performances - becomes an unforgettable cinematic experience with free admission. The screening will take place on Tuesday, July 16^th, 2019 in one of the most beloved places in Thessaloniki, Pier A at the city’s Port.
