HONORARY PRESENTATION FOR ISABELLE HUPPERT
An honorary presentation for French star actress Isabelle Huppert took place on Sunday, November 21st, at the Olympion theatre in the framework of the 45th Thessaloniki Film Festival. The event included the worldwide premiere screening of her latest film “Les Soeurs Fachèes” by Alexandra Leclère.
The film, a psychological comedy, has just been completed and its screening will begin in French cinemas on December 22nd. As a matter of fact, the screening of the film in the framework of the honorary tribute is Isabelle Huppert’s personal selection. In a packed room, the French actress received a standing ovation and was honoured for her work with the Golden Alexander Award. The award was presented by the spokesman of the Mayor of Thessaloniki, member of the Board of Directors and ex-deputy Mayor of Culture, Adonis Gyftopoulos.
The Director of the Thessaloniki Film Festival, Michel Demopoulos noted, “Huppert has a wide variety in her acting repertoire. She is seemingly distant, but at the same time, she emits passion, love and emotion. She is sensitive and romantic when playing classic roles and mysterious and remote as a modern woman. In the difficult role of her film “The piano teacher” in 2001, she transformed the dark heroine with incredible intensity and competence, amazing the audience and critics alike and receiving the best actress award at Cannes in 2002”. Mr. Demopoulos also mentioned that Huppert is not a femme fatale type of woman as far as beauty is concerned. Drawing parallels to Joseph Losey’s “La Truite” (1982), he characterised her as a trout always swimming against the current.
