GREEK COMPETITION SECTION
The 1st Prize of the 6th Thessaloniki Documentary Section “Images of the 21st Century”, for a documentary shorter than 45’ which is accompanied by a cash prize of 5.000€ is awarded to: “The box” by Eva Stefani
The 2nd Prize of the 6th Thessaloniki Documentary Section “Images of the 21st Century”, for a documentary shorter than 45’ which is accompanied by a cash prize of 3.000€ is awarded ex aequo to: “Heroes’ square” by Thodoros Kalesis and “Leros, freedom is curative” by Andreas Loukakos
The 1st Prize of the 6th Thessaloniki Documentary Section “Images of the 21st Century”, for a documentary longer than 45’ which is accompanied by a cash prize of 12.000€ is awarded to: “Summer lightning” by Nicos Ligouris
The 2nd Prize of the 6th Thessaloniki Documentary Section “Images of the 21st Century”, for a documentary longer than 45’ which is accompanied by a cash prize of 7.000€ is awarded ex aequo to: “Yannis Kouros: Forever running” by Ilias Yannakakis and “Living is cool” by Anneta Papathanassiou
The Jury consisted of * Kiriakos Katzourakis, Painter, Director * Nikos Doukas, Director of Production * Katerina Mistakidou, Professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki * Iraklis Papaioannou, Commissary of the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography * Katerina Patroni, Director
HONOURABLE MENTION
All of the films given honourable mention are awarded a cash prize of 2.000 €. Honourable mention is given to Takis Gorgorinis and Alekos Samsonidis for the editing of the film “The box” by Eva Stefani.
Honourable mention is given to Thodoros Marangos for the screenplay of his film “God is invisible because he is minute”.
Finally, honourable mention is given to the film “The other side” by Kyriaki Malama.
ERT3 AUDIENCE AWARD
The ERT3 Audience Award which is accompanied by a cash prize of 3.000€ goes to the film: “The corporation” by Mark Achbar and Jennifer Abbott
The film will be the closing film of the 6th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival – Images of the 21st Century.
FIPRESCI AWARD
The Jury consisting of: Karin Wolfs, Netherlands Asli Selcuk, Turkey Dimitris Charitos, Greece
“For the way it depicts the impasse and reality of life in known parts of the world, where children are the helpless protagonists and main victims;
for the way this film at the same time manages to find a sense for survival and joy in life which are still present in a time of anger and despair –
and for the authentic and genuine manner in which the story is depicted, FIPRESCI unanimously presents its award to Iranian director Majid Majidi for his film “Barefoot to Herat“ (Pa Berahneh ta Herat)”.
