???The countdown for the 57th TIFF begins
Jim Jarmusch x 2
Paterson: Opening film & Gimme Danger: Special screening

The countdown begins for the 57th Thessaloniki International Film Festival and we have the pleasure to contact you with some first news about this year’s edition.

The 57th TIFF will kick off one day earlier, on Thursday November 3rd, while the closing awards ceremony will be held -instead of Saturday-, on Sunday November 13th, 2016.

Among the highlights of this year’s edition program are the two latest films by Jim Jarmusch, one of the most beloved and iconic figures of global independent cinema. Jarmusch’s Paterson is the opening film of the 57th TIFF. The protagonist of the same name, a young bus driver (Adam Driver) who lives in Paterson, New Jersey, with his beautiful wife (Golshifteh Farahani), finds inspiration in his daily routine and secretly writes poems, in this heartfelt, unpretentious story about art meeting everyday life.

In addition, a special screening of Jarmusch’s Gimme Danger, one of this year’s most anticipated music documentaries, will take place during the 57th TIFF. The director pays a compelling tribute to one of his favourite bands, the Stooges, and his good friend, their outstanding front man, Iggy Pop, highlighting the latter’s everlasting rock & roll energy in a seducing journey through time and music.
