The Thessaloniki International Film Festival is happy to announce its collaboration with the Festival del Film Locarno in launching the Locarno Industry Academy International in the South Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean. The first pilot edition of this project will take place in Thessaloniki from November 7th to 11th 2016, during the 57th TIFF (November 3-13, 2016) in TIFF’s Agora / Industry section.

The Locarno Industry Academy, already launched successfully in Mexico, Brazil and New York, is a training program created to help young professionals of the cinema industry –sales agents, distributors and new media professionals- to extend their experience and networking in the fields of international sales, marketing, distribution and programming.

The Locarno Industry Academy International in Thessaloniki will welcome in priority participants from Greece, as well as from South Eastern European and Mediterranean countries, but it will also include international participants from the Locarno Industry Academy’s partner regions (Europe, Latin America, Switzerland and USA).

The young sales agents, distributors and new media professionals who will participate in the Locarno Industry Academy International in Thessaloniki will take part in a special workshop during which they will have the opportunity to interact, share experiences and meet with key players of the international film industry, for discussions, case study presentations and group workshops. They will also be able to participate in a range of activities organized by the 57th Thessaloniki International Film Festival and its Agora/Industry, including networking events and seminars with representatives of the global cinema field.

“We are very happy to inaugurate this new partnership between the Thessaloniki International Film Festival and the Festival del Film Locarno. The Locarno Industry Academy International in Thessaloniki will be a major opportunity that will benefit our region in terms of new talents acquiring new tools in distribution, sales and training, while it will also become a valuable platform for new collaborations, exchange of ideas and networking opportunities”, says TIFF’s General Director, Elise Jalladeau.

Especially on how to train the new generation of professionals, and provide them with the proper tools to navigate the industry as well as improving the visibility and circulation of films produced in those countries”.
