OPENING & CLOSING FILMS

Cinema for people: Masterclass and Open Discussion with Arnaud Desplechin

The 56th TIFF celebrates the work of French director Arnaud Desplechin, who will attend this year’s edition to present his work, as well as a masterclass on his artistic career, followed by an open discussion with the Festival’s audience. Moderator: Yorgos Krassakopoulos.

A live performance by the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra will accompany the screening of the classic film Metropolis by Fritz Lang (1927) in its restored version (in German with Greek surtitles). The screening is organized by the Goethe-Institut Thessaloniki and is part of the special program for the celebration of its 60-year history, in collaboration with the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra (orchestra director: Helmut Imig), courtesy of the Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau Foundation and the Europaische Filmphilharmonie, with the support of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival.
