Hong Kong Martial Arts Films

Mere technical knowledge is only the beginning of Kung Fu, to master it, one must enter into the spirit of it”
Bruce Lee

A prime selection of six martial arts films produced in Hong Kong will be screened at Pavlos Zannas theatre, revealing the secrets of Kung Fu and presenting the masters of the genre, including Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Jet Li. The tribute is organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels in collaboration with the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, and will take place from September 10 until September 13, 2015.
Organisers explain the rationale behind the tribute: “The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels is pleased to present Hong Kong’s cinema to Thessaloniki, a city with longstanding cultural tradition and rich film history. We hope that these exchanges will further promote the relations between Thessaloniki and Hong Kong and the people of Greece will come and see with their own eyes Hong Kong’s lively atmosphere and unique East-meets-West atmosphere”.

The tribute features martial arts movie classics produced in Hong Kong in the 70s, 80s and 90s. It includes Bruce Lee's The Way of the Dragon, Sammo Hung’s Spooky Encounters, Ching Siu-tung’s Duel to Death, Jackie Chan’s The Young Master, Corey Yuen’s Righting Wrongs and Tsui Hark’s Once upon a time in Chine 2
