The 22nd Thessaloniki Documentary Festival goes online, May 19 – May 28
The 22nd Thessaloniki Documentary Festival which was postponed due to the international coronavirus crisis, will take place online from Tuesday, May 19th until Thursday, May 28th, 2020, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
In this unprecedented situation, the documentaries that will be screened in the online version of the 22nd TDF are more relevant than ever and they remind us what it means to be human, our relation with nature, how vulnerable and at the same time how strong we are, offering exciting, visual journeys all over the world. Among the films, there are 77 recent Greek productions that examine themes such as human relationships, human rights, politics, music, history, environment and life.
The juries will watch the films online and hand out the awards.
The films will be available for free, for 400 viewings per film, solely for users from Greece, as the Thessaloniki International Film Festival has started a global initiative for establishing geoblocking when it comes to online screenings by film festivals, with the aim to protect the films and the festivals.
Moreover, the Festival is in constant collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the medical authorities and when and if the circumstances allow it, it will examine the possibility to have festival screenings in open air theaters and open spaces (the Port, squares, parks etc.) in Thessaloniki during the summer, taking of course all the necessary measures.
