The International Doc Market, introduced in 1999, will be held in the Byzantium hall at the 1st floor of the Electra Palace Hotel at Aristotelous Sq. next to the Festival headquarters, providing a substantial space to its participants, outfitted with 30 digital booths for private viewing. The market, organized in cooperation with the Greek Public Television (ERT S.A.) and with the support of the Media Program of the EU, caters to television networks from European countries and a wide range of professionals from various parts of the world.
The Doc Market is fully digital; all films are easily located in the digital library in each of the booths.

Approximately 520 films will be available in this year’s Doc Market, including all the films that are screened as part of the 15th TDF official program.

Approximately 60 buyers will be attending from Europe, the USA and Canada, among them: Noemi de Gabo Garcia (Television of Spain), Martin Ehrmann (ZDF-ARTE, Germany), Anne Grolleron (Histoire, France), Gorka Gallier (Doc & Film International, France), Isabelle Gueguen (ARTE, France), Francis Kandel (Canal+, France), Hanka Kastelikova (HBO Europe),

DOCS IN PROGRESS 2013

The Doc Market will present for the second time a Docs in Progress section:
12 projects from the Balkans, the Mediterranean and Central Europe participate in closed sessions for Thessaloniki’s invited industry professionals, sales agents, distributors, producers and festival representatives. The participants will present and screen 5-8 minutes from their projects, aiming towards securing coproduction deals, funds for project completion, as well as deals for presales and distribution. The projects are:

EDN DOCS IN THESSALONIKI – PITCHING FORUM 2013

The Pitching Forum – Docs in Thessaloniki, running since 2001 in collaboration with the European Documentary Network -a member-based organisation for professionals working with documentary feature projects- and with the support of the EU MEDIA Program, gives documentary professionals the opportunity to have their projects pitched to a panel of international financiers, commissioning editors and representatives of the international audiovisual media. The first 3 days focus on project development and polishing, under the guidance of the following industry professionals:
Axel Arno (SVT, Sweden), Simon Kilmurry (POV, USA), Margje de Koning (IKON, The Netherlands), Madeleine Avramoussis (ARTE G.E.I.E., France), Hanka Kastelicova (HBO Europe, Hungary), Ariana Meintana (ERT, Greece), Jan Rofekamp (Films Transit, Canada), Wim Van Rompaey (Lichtpunt, Belgium), Jenny Westergard (YLE, Finland), Nathalie Verdier (ARTE France), Katja Wildermuth (MDR, Germany), Sophie Chegaray (France 5), Phil Cox (WorldView, UK) and Tristan Anderson (Doc Heads, UK).
The last 2 days are reserved for pitching.

MARKET TALKS
March 20 - 22, 17.30-18.00, Excelsior room at the Electra Palace ground floor

The Doc Market organizes half-hour talks by professionals from different areas/professions in the documentary world. The talks will take place in an informal environment and the speakers will share valuable advice and observations drawn from their extensive experience in the industry. This year’s speakers will be announced at a later date.
In addition to the talks, the Doc Market organizes a Happy Hour every day from 18.00 to 19.00 (March 17-23) in the same space, to further provide festival guests with further opportunity to meet each other.
