DOCS IN THESSALONIKI / PITCHING FORUM 2012
For another year, documentary filmmakers prove loyal to their annual international rendezvous, participating in Docs in Τhessaloniki / Pitching Forum 2012, organized by the Documentary Festival of Thessaloniki in collaboration with the European Documentary Network (EDN) and supported by the European MEDIA Program. The opening, realized in the framework of the 14th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, took place in Electra Palace Hotel on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 and the Forum will last until Sunday, March 18, 2012, with the EDN award ceremony that will take place at the same location.
The director of Thessaloniki Film Festival, Mr. Dimitri Eipides, announced the Docs in Τhessaloniki / Pitching Forum 2012 opening. “EDN believed in the Documentary Festival from the very beginning and keeps on supporting it throughout all these years”, he pointed out while giving a short welcome speech. This year we have 20 documentary projects participating in Docs in Thessaloniki / Pitching Forum 2012, from 15 countries, including Greece. “The fact that just a few years after their participation in the workshop, we get to watch the documentaries, complete, on screen in the screening rooms of Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, is amazing”, noticed Mr. Eipides and wished good luck to the participants.
EDN director, Hanne Skjodt, was also present at the EDN Workshop & Pitching Forum project opening, coordinating the procedures. During the workshop many subjects were covered in relation to a documentary’s planning, its structure, style and content as well as presentation techniques and pitching. In more detail, the Thessaloniki / Pitching Forum 2012 includes a Workshop (14/3-16/3, Electra Palace Hotel) and Pitching (17/3, 09:00-15:00 and 18/3, 09:00-13:00, Pavlos Zannas Hall). It will come to an end with the EDN award allotment (16/3, 19.30, Excelsior Hall of Electra Palace Hotel). We should also notice that a masterclass will take place on Thursday, March 15, 2012 (10:00-11:30) at IEK AKMI on the subject “Documentary stories and New Media” with the presentation made by the transmedia producer Asta Wellejus, former development director of Zentropa Interaction and present director of Die Asta Experience Company, an expertise on new media.
