51st TIFF: Dorota Kedzierzawska honorary ceremony

DOROTA KEDZIERZAWSKA – HONORARY CEREMONY

Polish director Dorota Kedzierzawska was awarded the Golden Alexander for the entire body of her wok at a special honorary ceremony held on Thursday, December 9th at Olympion Theater, in the presence of the Festival Director, Mr. Dimitris Eipides, within the framework of the 51st Thessaloniki International Film Festival.

“The Festival, this feast of independent, quality cinema comes to its end. We hope all cinephiles gained something through this experience”, stressed Mr. Eipides, in the opening of the event. As he pointed out, Dorota Kedzierzawska’s films are not widely known in Greece, so it is an honor for the Festival to host an almost complete retrospective of the work of the eminent Polish director.

As she received the Golden Alexander, the director greeted the audience in Greek, by saying: “It is my first time in Greece and I feel wonderful. I would like to thank the Thessaloniki International Film Festival for inviting me and honoring me, through this homage and the presentation of my films.” Ms. Kedzierzawska mentioned that, even today, she feels like a beginner. She added that each time she makes a film, she is under the same stress, wondering if the film is as she had originally planned and imagined. “From now on, each time I feel out of courage, I will cast a glance at the Golden Alexander”, she concluded.
