CALL FOR ENTRIES
One of the main activities under the umbrella of the Thessaloniki IFF Industry Centre is Calling for Entries for its next event taking place during the 49th Thessaloniki International Film Festival in November 2008.
CROSSROADS’ goal is to support the producers of feature-length fiction film projects that share a link with the Mediterranean and Balkan regions. Qualifying features will be produced or co-produced by a country in this area or will contain story elements based in this region.
Mediterranean and Balkan producers with a feature film script are given the chance to meet a new network of financiers, co-producers and leading industry specialists. The programme is varied and provides the opportunity to meet, formally and informally, distributors, broadcasters, sales agents and consultants.
In its three previous editions, CROSSROADS included projects by filmmakers such as Raoul Ruiz, Amos Gitai, Atiq Rahimi, Yesim Ustaoglu, Constantine Giannaris,
Athina Rachel Tsangari, Alexis Alexiou, Sophia Zornitsa, Semih Kaplanoglu,
Goran Radovanovic, among others.
And invited industry experts such as Peter Garde from Zentropa Production, Michel Reilhac from ARTE, Jane Wright from BBC Films, Meinolf Zurhorst from ZDF, Olaf Aichinger from Bavaria Film International, Maya Amsellem from Capitol Films,
Matthew Baker from Hanway Films and more.
In 2006, CROSSROADS introduced the Crossroads Award, which was sponsored by Nokia N Series. Last year’s winner was Nadav Lapid for his film “The Policeman”
(which is also selected for this year’s L’Atelier, at the Cannes Film Festival).
The CROSSROADS Award is accompanied by the amount of 10.000 Euros.
Celebrating its 4th edition, the CROSSROADS Co-Production Forum will take place during the 49th Thessaloniki International Film Festival on 17-19 November 2008.
