FUNDAMENTALS OF CINEMA - SEASON 2

Sara Driver was the producer of Jim Jarmusch’s second feature film, which was the one that established him as one of America’s major filmmakers. Small-time gambler Willie receives an unexpected visit from his Hungarian cousin Eva, who plans to stay with him for ten days. At first Willie balks at the prospect, but when Eva shoplifts a packet of cigarettes and a TV dinner from the corner store for him, Willy begins to reconsider. Willie, Eva and Willie’s bosom buddy Eddie begin to hang out until it’s time for Eva to go to Cleveland to live with an aunt. A few months later, after winning $600 in a poker game, Willie and Eddie decide to go to Ohio to visit Eva. But Cleveland in the heart of winter hasn’t much to offer, and so the three of them decide to drive down to Florida, only to discover that, besides the warm weather, everything else is pretty much the same.

A woman, known only as Rita, is involved in a car crash on Mulholland Drive, in Hollywood, with two men, who are apparently evil. In the crash, the two men die, but Rita escapes. She remembers nothing afterwards, not even her name. She stumbles towards an apartment complex and hides in the bushes outside. Meanwhile, at a restaurant, two men, Herb and Dan, sit talking. Dan reveals that he had a nightmare about the particular restaurant they’re in. When the nightmare begins to come true, the two men leave at once. Later, an aspiring actress named Betty arrives in Los Angeles and goes to the apartment complex where her aunt lives. She finds Rita hiding outside and, when Betty eventually tells her about her amnesia, the two women try to find out who she is...

As the US Army sinks deeper into the Vietnam War, attempting to dig out the Vietcong from an impenetrable jungle, one officer, Captain Willard, is sent on a mission by the Special Forces to locate and liquidate Colonel Kurtz, an ex-Green Beret who cruelly rules over a primitive “mountain people”, entrenched at the Cambodian border.
