9th FESTIVAL DU FILM FRANCOPHONE
APR 2008APR 2008
As a significant part of its annual activity, the Thessaloniki International Film Festival has supported the Festival Du Film Francophone since its inception. For the first time this year the TIFF proposes its own program section, dedicated to films that have been awarded with the Prix Jean Vigo and produced within the years 1991 – 2006, as well as the masterful Jean Vigo film, Zero de conduite. The five films of the section are being screened in Greece for the first time. The Prix Jean Vigo was established in 1951 to honor the visionary filmmaker, who died at the age of 29 from tuberculosis. Amongst others, directors such as Jean Luc Godard, Alain Resnais and William Klein have been awarded the Prix Jean Vigo; its spirit of independence and innovation is in perfect accordance with the TIFF cinematic orientation.
