GRAVEHOPPING

A film about people from a small town in the Slovenian Karst region, it focuses on the basic force of the human existence: fear. Out of fear from death stems the desire for security, warmth and love. Pero, the film’s protagonist, is an intelligent man in his mid-thirties. He uses his considerable talent as a writer for writing funeral speeches. These are not mere eulogies for the deceased, since Pero consciously or unconsciously entwines his own perception of the course of events and his life philosophy into them. He lives in his family home with his sisters,Vilma and Ida, his father, and his nephew Johnny. Pero’s neighbour, Shooki, Johnny’s father Dzeger, and Renata –the love of Pero’s life– also frequently cross his path...
