EMPIRICAL DATA

Empirical Data is a fiction work which, as the title suggests, is based on lived experience. In this work, the artist George Drivas interprets real life events of the actor David Malteze with the scope of presenting the social and psychological mechanisms of exclusion and assimilation. The artist took an interest in the story of David Malteze after reading the article “A story from Georgia” by Gazment Kaplani in Ta Nea Newspaper (9/2/2008), where David narrates his story as an immigrant coming from Georgia to Greece. By freely reconstructing elements of David’s story, Drivas attempts to touch upon subjects of social integration, beyond any nationally and socially determined context.
