ELEFTHERIOS VENIZELOS 1910-1927

Following the Goudi $putsch$, the officers of the Military League brought Eleftherios Venizelos from Crete to Athens and proposed he form a government. Having first met with King George I, Venizelos accepted and proceeded to pursue irredentist politics, with an aim to expand Greek borders. During the Balkan Wars, Greece did indeed gain new territories, at the same time however, the first signs of friction begin to appear in relations between Venizelos and Crown Prince Constantine. This friction will escalate into a confrontation at the outbreak of World War I.
