Tokyo, 2003. Yoko, a writer researching the life of a jazz artist, befriends Hajime, the owner of a second hand bookstore. Raised by her near-blind uncle, Yoko enjoys a good relationship with her father and stepmother, but when she returns home and tells them she is pregnant and has no intention of marrying the father, they worry for Yoko’s future. Hajime too is shocked by the news. Meanwhile, Yoko learns that her uncle must undergo eye surgery. Gradually, Yoko begins to re-evaluate everything: her life, her family, the child growing inside her...
