ANGELS IN FAST MOTION

He was born in Denmark, in 1966. He graduated as director from the Danish National Film School of Denmark in 1993 with the award-winning graduation film Happy Jim. Since then he has written and directed a growing number of award winning films, including the outstanding short Sinan’s Wedding (1997), which was followed by his first feature film, the courageous Pizza King in 1999. In 2001, he wrote and directed the award-winning dogma film Kira’s Reason – A Love Story and in 2005 he turned the critically acclaimed bestseller Nordkraft (Angels in Fast Motion) into an award-winning hit with both the critics and audiences. In 2000 Madsen shot The Spider, an acclaimed TV drama about a post-war Copenhagen haunted by crime and blackmarket dealers. In 2006, together with award winning scriptwriter Kim Fupz Aakeson, he wrote the relationship drama Prague, and went on to direct an intense chamber play featuring Mads Mikkelsen and Stine Stengade. This was followed by the big-scale WWII drama Flame & Citron about Danish resistance fighters, which sold to 50 countries and was the biggest box office hit in Denmark in 2008. In 2011, he directed his first comedy, Superclasico, of which he was also the main screenwriter. The filmwas shot in Buenos Aires. In parallel to his films, all of which he has made with Nimbus Film, Ole Christian Madsen has directed several highly acclaimed TV series, including several episodes of the award winning Taxi and Unit 1.
