Directors Bio:
Born in 1941, Iosif Demian started his career as a cinematographer. In 1970, he was part of the group of film professionals that made Black Buffalo Water (awarded the Diploma of Honor at the Rencontres Internationales Film et Jeunesse, Cannes 1972). A documentary about the catastrophic floods of the 1970, it was to become a manifesto and launching pad for its young directors and cinematographers. His 1980 film A Girl’s Tears was screened in the “Un Certain Regard” section at the Cannes Film Festival. In 1986, he immigrated to Sydney and he led the Camera Department of the Australian Film Television and Radio School between 1988 and 1997. He made 22 films and over 100 documentaries, short films, video and television productions as a director, cinematographer, producer, editor and writer.
