The Thessaloniki Film Festival kicked off in 1960 under the official title of “Week of Greek Cinema”. In 1992, it obtained an international character, starting to screen the most pioneering and pivotal voices of world cinema. It is held annually in November, and stands out as one of the most historic film festivals worldwide, as well as the most popular and talked-of cinema event of the year in Greece.
