DESTINATION... SUMMER

Vassilis is a 10-year-old boy from Athens. Five years ago he had a life-threatening accident when he fell into a friend’s pool, in his summerhouse on the island of hydra. He almost drowned. Ever since then he has been unable to approach the water, be it the sea or a swimming pool. Every summer for the past five years, he has had to hide away from what is the joy of all children here in Greece – swimming. Summer was the worst time of the year for him. he felt alone and alienated. But this year Vassilis has decided to change his life. he has decided to start swimming lessons. he wants to go back where it all started: the swimming pool on hydra. his goal is to face his fear and win back summer.
