BURNING FROM THE INSIDE

A political documentary, right from the streets of Athens and Berlin. Using the rise of the neo- Nazi party Golden Dawn as its main axis, it reveals the structures of fascism and the social disintegration in modern Greece, as experienced by Greek immigrants in Germany. Giving their own fight against the neo-Nazi surge, they join forces with Germans and try to speak out against the constant violations of human rights and the deliberate silence of Europe. By juxtaposing events in the two countries, the film attempts to question the functionality of democracy; to “universalize” the Nazi problem; to challenge the role of Germany as the “queen of Europe”; to show the amazing power wielded by the people when they are united; and to expose the reasons which made Greece a country Burning from the Inside.
