BEAUTIFUL SON

In Beautiful Son, Don and Julianne take us on their journey to recover their son Beau from Autism. Along the way, they learn that the medical establishment has little to offer apart from advice of “good parenting” and a vitamin cocktail. Desperate to find alternative treatments, they stumble upon a community of doctors and parents who are experimenting with biomedical interventions and recovering some kids from autism. Many questions are raised that highlight the controversial aspects of autism. Is autism treatable? What is causing autism? Is it just genetic or a combination of genetic susceptibility combined with some external trigger? As the prevalence of autism increases to epidemic proportions, these are questions that society urgently needs to find answers for.
