Presence

Presence

TIFF65: Greek Premiere
Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh reinvents horror cinema with Presence, a chilling and almost mystical film, told from the perspective of a spirit trapped inside a house. When a family moves into a seemingly quiet suburban neighborhood, dark secrets begin to emerge, and the spirit residing in the house not only observes their dramas but also becomes part of their lives in unsettling ways. Combining suspense and the supernatural with deep melancholy and existential contemplation, Presence is a rare horror film that evolves into a gripping exploration of how the past can haunt the present. Themes of loss and redemption, the boundaries of existence, and the emotional ties that can bind us give the film a reflective tone and a deeper layer not often found in genre films.
