U Are the Universe

Ty - Kosmos

TIFF65: Greek Premiere
U Are the Universe invites us on an extraordinary journey through space, love, loneliness, and the vast, unexplored landscape of human existence. Andriy, an ordinary truck driver on a cargo spaceship, becomes the sole survivor after a devastating explosion wipes out Earth. His only companion is a robot with a questionable sense of humor, and his lonely voyage toward an inevitable end takes an unexpected turn when he receives a message from a French astronaut stranded at a distant space station. This sparks Andriy’s bold “existential” mission to reach her, transforming what initially seems like a science fiction film into a profound exploration of our deepest human needs: connection, love, and the search for hope, even in the face of total loss. Shot during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Pavlo Ostrikov’s debut is both a charming dramedy and a powerful metaphor for survival in the midst of unimaginable tragedy.
