My Favourite Cake

Keyke mahboobe man

TIFF65: Greek Premiere
70-year-old Mahin has been living alone in Tehran since her husband died and her daughter left for Europe. However, when a crack suddenly appears in the previously unbroken front of her loneliness, her love life will be rejuvenated, and her heart (along with her home) will open up once more to welcome a man. Only their unexpected flirtation will turn into an evening that will be unforgettable in every single way. Perhaps the last film we'd expect from Iran contains surprises of the highest order, beckoning us to indulge in the sweetness of something new, and to surrender ourselves without care to one night’s fever. Bold, addictively evocative, multi-layered, and liberating in its quest for female emancipation, and featuring two unique performances by the leading couple, it is no mystery that My Favorite Cake was loved as few films were at the recent Berlinale.
