The Strangers’ Case

The Strangers' Case

TIFF65: Greek Premiere
Tragedy strikes a family in Syria, sparking a series of events that will implicate more families in different countries (including Greece). With the action taking place in 2017, and masterfully blending the “bag of tricks” of storytelling, while continuously employing shifts in time and space, The Stranger’s Case (which won, amongst other accolades from festivals all around the world, the Amnesty International Film Award in Berlinale) is an invitation for us to remember those people for whom life isn’t a foregone conclusion. Featuring an impressive directorial approach that highlight the emotionally significant without skimping on the breathtaking scenes, the intense anticipation, and the gripping climaxes, the directorial debut of the American producer, Brandt Andersen, provides the space for Omar Sy to unfold his talents, gifting us one of the best performances in his repertoire (with the portrayal of a ruthless dealer), and for Konstantinos Markoulakis to stand out in a poignant role.
