Steppenwolf

Steppenwolf

TIFF65: Greek Premiere
In a bleak near-future, a young woman named Tamara is desperately searching for her missing son in a small town overwhelmed by chaos and violence. In a last-ditch effort to find him, she turns to a corrupt ex-cop whose cruel and sadistic methods are deeply unsettling. But despite the fear he instills in her, Tamara chooses to see this mission through, no matter what it costs. Brutally honest and relentlessly dark, this film reinvents the western genre with post-apocalyptic elements, forcing viewers to face harsh realities head-on. Through a powerful visual language, it explores the erosion of morality in a society descending into chaos and inhumanity. Drawing inspiration from directors like Sam Peckinpah, John Carpenter, and John Ford, it delivers a potent modern allegory that echoes classics like The Searchers.
